ServSafe Food Handler Certificate

For over 30 years, the National Restaurant Association (NRA) through its ServSafe brand has been at the forefront of preparing restaurant and foodservice workers to deliver safe dining experiences for their guests, while also keeping themselves safe. Every day, the NRA trains the restaurant and food service industry on topics like cooking temperatures, safe storage, and cross contamination, as well as hygiene, sanitation, and other risk mitigation activities.

The Trinidad Hotels, Restaurants & Tourism Association (THRTA)’s training arm, the Trinidad and Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute (TTHTI) established a formal relationship with the National Restaurant Association Solutions in January 2018 and achieved Global Academic Partner status with the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) and the National Restaurant Association (NRA). Through this partnership, the THRTA and TTHTI can provide all hospitality operators in Trinidad & Tobago with a range of international workforce certification and credentialing products.

As the industry faces ongoing challenges with COVID-19, the National Restaurant Association remains dedicated to helping all hospitality workers remain safe. Food safety training and education are more critical now than ever before.

Over the next few weeks and months, Trinidad & Tobago will eventually resume some level of activity within the hospitality industry and open its borders to international tourists. It will be paramount to have restaurants, hotels, airports, etc. all affirm and evidence their commitment to complete cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation.

ServSafe Takeout & ServSafe Delivery COVID-19 Precautions

Summary

The coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) initially required social distancing measures including the elimination of in-house dining at restaurants and other foodservice venues across Trinidad & Tobago. Many restaurants responded by adding or increasing their takeout and delivery service; however, those practices require additional sanitation measures to help mitigate the risk of COVID-19.

Despite the current cessation of these activities, it is very likely that a gradual relaxation of the Public Health measures will occur over the next few weeks and months.
